Hi
there, I have a rather angelic tag to share this week featuring Donna’s
beautiful Serena stamp set and I have a rather quirky way to use the heart
shaped balloon in the set which I hope you’ll like.
Ingredients:
That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencils – Long Hearts Background, Large Circles Background,
Circles Background
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylics – Banana, Bubblegum, Cherry Blossom, Blush, Cherry
Red, Wisteria
Martha Stewart Multi Surface Satin Acrylic Paints – Blue Calico, Pink Flamingo
Pink
Crochet Trim
Old
Store Card
Recipe:
The
first thing I did was to give the tag a coat of gesso as this makes the further
layers much easier to apply. When this was dry, I applied the Banana, Cherry Blossom and Wisteria paints with an old store card, scraping on patches of each
colour in turn until the surface was roughly covered. I then added swipes on
top using the side of the store card with Bubblegum paint.
I
then added stencilling in patches using the Blue Calico paint with the Large Circles Background and the Banana paint with the Circles Background partially over
the top of the blue circles. I used the hearts stencil at the top with the Bubblegum paint and knocked the colour back a little with gesso as it was a bit
stronger than I wanted. I added a few swipes of gesso over the painted surface
to bring everything together.
I
decided on the placement of the girl image and balloon and stamped them
directly on the painted tag with the black ink. This was to help avoid tricky
cutting out as my eyesight isn’t up to it anymore! It has the added advantage
of giving dimension too.
I
next stamped the girl, balloon heart and 2 extra plain hearts without strings
onto mixed media paper with black ink. I stamped the love text on the balloon,
as happily it’s a perfect fit. I then painted all the images with various of
the paints listed aiming for stronger shades than the background for contrast.
I painted the 2 plain hearts and the dangling heart with glitter glue over the
top of pink paint for a touch of sparkle.
I
cut out all of the images except for the balloon string and the curly bit in
Serena’s hair then added them to the tag over the stamped images with a mix of
foam tape and glue to give dimension. As you can see, the heart shaped balloon
minus the string makes a great single heart or even a pair of wings! I finished
off with a couple of rows of pink crochet ribbon from my stash.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.
