Sewing Room by Lynne Moncrieff

I’m sure I am not the only stamper who has quite a collection of mannequins/dressforms! Mannequin Café No. 1 from Character Constructions is the latest addition. The stamps are most commonly used for paperdoll art but here I simply inked it up to form the focal for a doorhanger. Maybe a gift idea for someone with a sewing room.

Supplies

Staz-on Timber Brown
Idea-ology Ruler Ribbon
Baby Wipe
Extras:- Walnut Ink Crystals (substitute with Distress Stain Walnut Stain), vintage buttons (substitute with Idea-ology), lace and fabric scraps

Instructions

Apply dissolved Walnut Ink Crystals (or substitute) to doorhanger. Mist with Ground Espresso, dab with baby wipe to remove excess. Heat set before stamping text in a random fashion. Stamp dressform and create a stamped border of dressmaking pins (Mannequin Café). Embellish mannequin with lace and vintage buttons.

Stain scrap of cardstock, fabrics and Ruler Ribbon with dissolved Walnut Ink Crystals. Stamp ruler onto the prepared cardstock, distressing and inking edges before layering with torn ticking to top edge of hanger. Layer Ruler Ribbon with more of the ticking to lower edge.

Finally, embellish hanger with vintage button and distressed fabric strips.

Until next time,

Lynne

  3. Dear Lynne, your doorhanger is fabulous ,
the grungy background makes it look as if this hanger have been in so many hands over time, being moved on and off by hardworking hands. Love the ruler ribbon and stamps. And the buttons are the sweetest add, together with the red splashes !! Such a stunning piece.
