All Things Bright and Beautiful by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

My post this week is all about using up those scraps and mop up pieces that you might have lurking in your stash as I do. I decided to get them out for another play with the gorgeous new stamp designs from Lynne and you'll see just how versatile the stamps are too.

Step by Step:

Here are the pieces that came out of my bits box, mostly mop up papers from using sprays and stencils as I always seem to get the inks everywhere! I chose some in bright shades of blue and orange with hints of pink, yellow and green.

I decided to cut them up and wanted to try a patchwork look in both squares and strips so prepared some of each.

Patchwork Squares

As you can see, some have more pattern than others so I left those as they were and did some stamping on the plainer squares using one of Lynne's scribbled words sets. I chose a script one together with a circular splat and wiggly lines and stamped these with bright blue ink.

I glued my squares to a piece of dark blue card, leaving the centre blank as I wanted to add a panel over the top and there's no point wasting the patchwork squares when they'll be covered up!

Stripes

For the stripes I glued them in place on dark blue card first as I knew I wanted to stamp on top to draw them all together. I used the same scribbled words set and added circular splats with black ink.

I followed this up with a script image which I stamped twice with bright blue ink before re-inking the stamp to carry on. I stamped the lines with orange ink, again using first and second generation stamping.

Making the Cards

I prepared some central panels using a piece of ochre coloured mop up paper with orange marks on so carried on stamping on them with orange and green inks this time to pick out the coloured in the background.

I stamped a variety of the images from Lynne's new Nature's Gatherings stamp sets with black ink on white card. I cut these out leaving a small white border round the outside for contrast. I glued the prepared central panels to deep blue card and added these to the backgrounds on my cards - I used a square one and a 5x7 inch one.

I decided which images to add to each card, placing them in situ before gluing them down to make sure I was happy with the result. I added some of Lynne's Affirmations from the sets to turn these into collaged cards with a bright and happy spring look.

Supplies:

Selection of papers created from flat matte sprays and/or stencils
Blue Card

You could always use this technique with any patterned paper scraps you have, stamping to add interest if the papers are fairly plain.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.
