Hi Everyone
Welcome to my Thursday weekly dose of creativity.
This week I have a grungy mixed media tag to share with you that features one of my favourite stampsets by Tim Holtz: 'The Professor 2' along with a couple of Tim Holtz stencils and some of Seth Apter/ Aladine Izink Dye sprays.
For the background of the tag I simply sprayed the mixed media paper with some of Seth Apters/ Aladine Izink sprays (honey, spring green, sunflower, tea). I spritzed the paper with all 4 colours, dried and then repeated the process to build up a good depth of colour. I think I was a few sprays away from being happy with the result in the photo below.
I then covered a That's Crafty! MDF large tag with the sprayed background sealing it with matt medium which seemed to enrich the colours more.
Next I added some detail stamping using the text stamp from Tim Holtz 'Professor 2' stampset.
I also added some textured stenciling using a couple of Tim Holtz layering stencils: 'Traveller' and 'Decayed'.
'Traveller' I stencilled with texture paste on the main body of the tag, 'Decayed' with crackle paste around the sides, top and bottom of the tag. Once the 'Traveller' stencilling was dry I caught some of the letters with crackle paste too.
The texture was 'grunged' up using distress crayons and paint.
The tag was then ready for the stamped and embossed elements. I used more of the stamps from Tim Holtz 'The Professor 2' stampset for these. Most were embossed with Seth Apters/ Emerald Creek Vintage Beeswax Baked Texture EP's and distressed with distress inks.
There's some embossed number tiles fixed with brads ....
....a date and worded slim panel (not sure of its rightful name) again fixed with brads.
...as was 'stamp here'.
There's also an embossed circle dial that I adhered in the centre of a That's Crafty! greyboard mini cog. The cog was treated to some grit paste, painted with acrylic paint and embellished with a Tim Holtz game spinner.
'The Professor' himself was simply stamped with Archival distress ink, fussy cut and adhered in place to become the focal feature. Some glossy accents added to his goggle lenses gave him an extra touch of 'cool' than he already has (imho).
