Patterns Galore by Helen Chilton

This post is all about building up patterns.

I'm using a PaperArtsy Tracey Scott set and one of the medium rounds which I've coloured with Distress Oxides, either sprays or inkpads:

Then I stamped the square pattern all over in white paint. I tend to spread the paint out and dip the stamp in:

Note how the white paint has taken up some of the ink beneath:

I then sprayed some patches of colour and stamped in various patterns in black:

I cut out various size circles:

This smaller round has been inked as before and then stamped:

I had to add some white highlights just to make it pop!

For the border stamping I just worked by eye, stamping the opposite four sides first then working out how many to stamp in between - the pattern's fairly forgiving.

  1. A very striking patterned circle Helen. The layers look amazing with all the patterning and the colours are fabulous.
