Hello Everyone
Welcome to my Thursday weekly dose of creativity here at That's Crafty!
This week I have finally succumb to a little festive creativity so I'm sharing a couple of Christmas cards I've created that feature paper pieced Christmas Trees created from stencilled Gelli prints.
I've used the same products for both cards (listed at the foot of the post) but have tweaked the tree designs slightly.
To begin with I created a gelli print master board.
I brayered white paint over my gelli plate, then set the mask I had chosen to work with onto the painted plate. Using a wet wipe I wiped away the paint from the open areas of the mask design and removed the mask.
I then brayered teal and dark blue paint over the stencilled white paint, and using a piece of white card pulled a print. Although you can't see it in the photo below the print has some fabulous textural paint effects. There are some close up photos of this further down the post.
The print was then used to create some triangles which would serve as Christmas trees
I added some stencilled texture to the trees by applying texture paste randomly through a dot stencil and to finish off the trees I ran some black paint down all three sides.
Here are the close ups of the textural paint effects I mentioned above
The backgrounds on both cards were stamped with a Christmas text stamp, and stencilled in the same way as the trees.
The edges of the background panels were distressed with distress ink and of course I couldn't resist a few paint splatters.
Both trees are set it in a pot made from a piece of paper from a paper pad.
I decorated the top of both trees with metal stars highlighted with white paint and silver wax.
For the one dimensional tree I used one tree adhering it directly to the background.
For the two dimensional card I used two trees, layering one on top of the other. I also cut the layered tree into three segments as an alternative option for the tree design.
The layering of the trees gives the finished card some subtle dimension.

I think these are beautiful, I love the way the stacked tree has dimension from the stenciled pasted and layers.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards Amanda. The textures are amazing and love the colours you chose too. The added touches of black are so striking.
