Having a Teddy Bear......... by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
For this weeks post I've been playing in my little That's Crafty! greyboard art journal again.

Here's What I Did:

As with all my pages they have been covered first with not so perfect gelli prints from my stash and over those I have very roughly smeared over white gesso to give a first layer of texture. I then added torn pieces of book paper, stamping scraps and junk papers using matt medium. Over that I then smeared colours of That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints and over that added some That's Crafty! Flat Matte Spray.

Over that I then added some more white gesso this time applied with a brayer.
I also added another piece of junk paper that I had run through my sewing machine.

Some stencilling applying the paint through the stencil with my fingers were added next. I wanted to add more stitching but obviously I couldn't sew through the thickness of the greyboard so I stitched through some Dina Wakley tissue paper and tore around the stitching then added to my pages using matt medium and as the tissue paper just disappears into the background it looks like I have sewn through it. I also added some paint marks dipping a plastic spray can top into the teal paint (you will notice on the final piece that I did the same using black paint.

My bears were stamped onto a piece of scrap card that I had previously scraped some left over paint onto and were then cut out. I did add a little more colour using coloured pencils.

I edge the small pages with a Dina Wakley scribble stick blending the colour with a damp finger, you could also use distress crayons for the same effect. I also added some splashes of black paint and touches of brayered black paint to make it look a little grungy.
The sentiment "Having a teddy bear doesn't mean you are immature, sometimes they are the only ones that don't laugh when you cry" I found on the internet and typed out and added to my pages with matt medium and outlined the words with a black fineliner pen.

Here's What I Used:
Gelli Prints from Stash
Paper scraps (book pages, junk paper, stamping scraps)
