Until you Spread your Wings by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday post of Creativity.
This week I am sharing some more Tag Art featuring yes you've guessed it - yet another butterfly! Sadly in the 'real world' the butterfly population is in decline but in my 'art world' they will always be ever present!

I primed the tag with an initial layer of gesso before adhering torn paper strips to selected areas of the tag. The colour of the ink on the torn paper was a little dark so I knocked it back with gesso then began introducing colour using Koala and Limelight PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylics. I brayered them lightly as I wanted the white of the gesso to be part of the full colour palette, along with black.
Then came some detailed stamping using one of the crackle stamps from That's Crafty's Texture Collection 2 stamp set, a small dot stamp from the same set and a text stamp from my stash.
There's also some texture paste stenciling using That's Crafty! 'Numbers' stencil - one of my favourites

and of course I couldn't forget to add some of my much loved paint splatters!

The focal butterfly is taken from AALL and Create's stamp set #81 designed by Olga Heldwein. Its stamped in Versafine ink and then coloured with paint applied by either brush or brayer.
I gave the wings some white highlights

and embellished the butterflies thorax with a broken bamboo skewer topped with a greyboard hexagonal 'bead', both of which are painted in black acrylic and accented with Limelight Fresco Finish Acrylic.

The butterfly rests on a platform of 'rounds' and the wings are manipulated to give some dimension and a sense of movement

The tag is finished off with a quote

and an eyelet fixed over the tag hole with some strands of ribbon threaded through.

  5. Another delightful tag, Amanda! Tags are my preferred substrate and I miss working with them. Limelight might have stolen center stage from your lovely butterfly were it not for the motion you have created for her by torquing the wings just a bit and by use of the 'rounds' platform. I can tell this was a lot of work, but well worth it at the finish!
