The Owl and the Pussycat by Samantha Read

Hello, I'd like to share with you today my first attempt at decorating one of the That's Crafty! MDF Uprights. I am being completely unbiased when I type that I was SO impressed with this product, it is superb quality and amazing value for money - they're huge! Not forgetting they are great fun.

What I did

I started by adding a little texture by applying sand texture paste through a rainbow stencil and then applying a couple of coats of gesso and painting using my desired colours. I stamped the flowers directly on to the painted surface and coloured using watercolours. I stamped the owl, cat and fish on to white card and coloured using Prismacolour pencils. The waves were stamped using a Salty Ocean ink pad. I drew the boat and used crackle glaze to get the effect I wanted for an old pea green boat. The flowers, mushrooms and two small moons are from grey board sheets, I gave them a couple of coats of gesso before painting as I did the Wycinanka heart and arrow embellishments. The stars are silver mirri cardstock with glossy accents for extra shine and I made the big moon by using a large moon stamp and some wet paper towel. Finishing touches are Stickles to make the water sparkle, sticky gems and some tiny star sequins and a little text to the boat and front of the base. Also Posca paint pens for tiny details.

I have fallen in love with dimension of the upright surface and I've not fixed the upright to the base as yet so I can keep removing it and adding bits... will it ever be truly finished lol.
