Brave Wings .... by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly post.
I have another That's Crafty long tag to share with you today but to show you another way in which these tags can be used I have adapted it a little and made it into a slim and slender art panel.

I selected a tag with a decorative top and using a paper trimmer I cut along the mark shown to remove the decorative top. (left hand photo). I also rounded off the two square corners of the tag using scissors.( right hand photo)

I primed the long panel with gesso.  Once dry I adhered pieces of scrapbook paper of various sizes to the front of the panel leaving small gaps in between the pieces. I then applied a coat of matte medium to seal.

I scraped gesso and texture paste roughly and randomly over the papered panel. Once dry I introduced colour using PaperArtsy Fresco finish acrylic paints, black acrylic paint and a little more gesso. As you can see some of the mediums settled in the gaps between the strips of adhered paper to give texture, detail and interest.

which I further added to with a touch of stamping

and some paint splatters

The Focal Feature
The squares are multi stacked die cuts created using Seth Apters Robo Squares die. They are treated with crackle texture paste and then painted. They are adhered at angles using That's Crafty All Purpose Adhesive to frame the metal ideology butterfly whose beaded wings have been caught with a touch of distress crayon.

Other embellishments come in the way of Ideology memo pins, conical metal spokes

an Ideology hinge clip and distressed Big Chat stickers providing the sentiment
