Happy New Year Everyone!
Welcome to my first Thursday weekly post for 2019.
Welcome to my first Thursday weekly post for 2019.
I always like to start the New Year with a new Note/Sketch pad so as Santa forgot to leave me one under the tree this year, oops I mean last year, I have made one of my own to share with you today.
I needed both a back and front cover so created a masterboard using Alcohol ink Yupo® white paper and alcohol inks. Yupo® is a smooth synthetic, non porous, water resistant surface making it ideal for use with Alcohol inks.
I used 8 colours and simply dripped drops of the ink onto the Yupo®, to form pools of colour. Such a simple yet cool technique that creates amazing results - especially if you choose your colours well and know when to stop!
I then cut my masterboard in half and adhered each of the 2 pieces to one of the sides of 2 That's Crafty! White/Greyboard postcards whilst the other sides of the postcards were covered with black cardstock.
I then sandwiched a paper pad between the two postcard covers and adhered them all together across the top with a strip of black embossed cardstock
I added a quote chip that I treated with acrylic paint
and created a focal feature which is the sum of a few parts -
a few circle die cuts of varying sizes,
a That's Crafty! ATCoin that I treated with acrylic paint and stencilled using crackle paint with a That's Crafty! Dinky stencil and an alcohol inked butterfly embellished with a piece of Ideology.

ReplyDeleteWow Amanda, you definitely chose your colours well and stopped at exactly the right point because this cover is stunning! It is vibrant and really cheers up a very dull day! Hugs, Anne xx
ReplyDeleteThis is really striking Amanda. The vibrant colours really pop against the black and the butterfly embellishment is simply stunning.
ReplyDeleteFliss xx
Quite the inspirational piece, Amanda! Not just for us today, but for yourself anytime you pick it up or even glance at it on your work table. While the colors here are vibrant and the focal piece is perfect, I think the real beauty of this project is its functionality. I guess I am just a sucker for functional art and you have given that to me today. Mwah!
ReplyDeleteWow, so cool - I thought those crackled dots were sequins to start with, glowing with reflected colour. What an amazing notebook cover.
