Hello! If you purchase Craft Stamper magazine you will have seen the beautiful cover make by Melina, which is what inspired my make for you for this week. This was a great project to make and to just enjoy the process of creating a beautiful springtime scene.
On this second photo from a slightly different angle I've tried to capture the dimension and shimmer.
What I did
I began with a piece of mount board measuring 8x8 inches, (with hind sight I should have used a That's Crafty! 8x8 inch MDF chunkie :( ). I glued down bits of ripped up pages from an old book I'm recycling and then added the paints as shown after a thin coat of white gesso. I used Melina's new stamps and white embossing powder for the background flowers and grasses. I then stamped Donna's rabbit and tree on tissue paper and coloured the leaves with white gesso on the reverse and adhered using PVA glue, this gives a seamless look and the images look like they were stamped directly on to the background, this is a useful technique when you don't have a smooth background to stamp on to. A little lace and some paper flowers from my stash add texture, and Wycinanka chipboard and That's Crafty! greyboard add more details and texture in contrasting colours to the background. Finally some glitter glue and frost spray add some lovely shimmer and paint splats add that arty feel.

A very pretty and striking piece of artwork Sam and such lovely textures on there. Your Springtime scene gives me a longing for warmer days too.

You have created a wonderful springtime scene, Samantha. Loved your 'wishing you had used' - so many times I think the same with projects I have made - that and 'if only I had had in my stash' x
ReplyDeleteDelightful.
ReplyDeleteThere's an enchanted fairytale feel to this - I love the running hare and the pretty colour contrasts.
