A Recycling Rabbit! by Samantha Read

Hello! As a crafter I find terribly hard to throw away glass jars and cardboard as both items are so versatile and at this time of year with the dark nights it's just lovely to burn a few more candles than usual. This can be achieved in an afternoon and would make a lovely gift.

What I did

I cleaned the jar and removed the label and then gave it two coats of white gesso followed by a couple of coats of Ivory paint. Using a Coffee Archival ink pad I stamped the rabbit directly on to the jar, this was little fiddly being a curved surface, another hand would have been useful. When dry, using a craft knife I scratched away the unstamped detail of the rabbit. I finished by masking the rabbit and splatting different coloured water colour paints all over the jar and string at the bottom and top, with a string flower with a sticky gem.

I was thinking about this after taking photos and thought it would have been a good idea to do the same on the 'back' of the jar using another of the stamps from the same set.

What I used

That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set - Hand Carved Nature
That's Crafty! White Gesso
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paint - Ivory
Ranger Archival Ink Pad - Coffee
Extras: Glass Jar, Sticky Gem, String and watercolours.

I really hope you like it, thank you for looking and I wish you a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful, crafty 2019. Sam xx
