Hello everyone, I'm really pleased to be able to share my first post of this year with you and am taking this opportunity to show you another of the samples I made for the December One Day Special which was a sell out of course! This one is rather Autumnal with the leaves but I make no apology for that as I love the colours which are a favourite of mine.
I first covered my panel with texture paste and used the new leaf stencil to add a pattern at just the top and bottom. When the paste was dry, I brushed watered down Chestnut Brown Multi Surface paint on the patterned areas. I added Bronze lightly over the top to add some sheen.
I then took a piece of mixed media paper and stencilled on the leaf design with green Multi Surface paint, adding a touch of the watered down brown in places. When the paint was dry, I splattered the stencilling with watered down red paint. I brushed watered down metallic gold over the whole area.
I tore the top and bottom of the stencilled paper and then trimmed the sides to fit my decorated panel. I used the Tim Holtz Design ruler to make 2 rows of holes at the top and bottom of the paper and then sewed through the holes with embroidery floss to make a cross stitch pattern - a return to my roots here as I did cross stitch when I was a lot younger and my eyesight was better!
I took a greyboard leaf and used texture paste with the matching stencil to add the detail. Once the paste was dry, I painted the leaf with the bronze paint. I tied some embroidery floss around the stalk and wrapped the excess thread around the leaf stencilled paper, securing the ends on the reverse.
I glued the leaf paper on to the main panel and finished off with the dream text which I stencilled on to a scrap of the paper trimmings with Chestnut Brown paint and cut into a word tile.
I used:
