Flutter Your Wings by Dorthe Hansen

It's an unusual Wednesday as Melina and I changed days but only for this week so here I am today. I hope your week has started wonderfully!!

Onto a panel I sprayed Infusions ink in green and left it to dry. It was then painted with a
brown /white watery mix and again sprayed with the infusions.

While drying I stamped Donna`s lovely new stamp, Claire, onto a piece of tissue paper which was first painted with the thinned down brown and then a very thinned down Bright Magenta. Her facial details were painted with fine liner pens.

On the left hand corner a feather was added using a stencil with the Light Texture Paste which absorbs the colours very well when its dried. That and 3 greyboard feathers were all painted with the thinned down brown and pink, I also added the details after with the brown pen.

On the right hand side I used another stencil to add interest there too. Then sweet Claire was adhered to the panel. I then used another of the new stamps, this time from stamp set Amelie, which was stamped directly onto the upper right side of the panel using a brown ink.

A watery mix of pink and white paint was sprayed onto a white cotton fabric and then adhered under Claire and bulked up to make the texture you see. The dried feathers were fastened with thread in a matching colour onto another piece of cotton.

I then sewed an old button with a piece of paper between it which was then adhered to the fabric
and one of Lynne`s Affirmation was stamped on to the rest of the brown smeared paper then adhered to the fabric on the left hand side.

Lastly the text around her head was added with a white Posca Pen and I added the other lines drawn
here and there on the perimeter. A very thinned version of the new paint, Evergreen, was smeared onto the panel in different spots and also onto the fabric piece. I still thought Claire was missing a little something to look wild :-) so I gave her little sequins in her hair.

Thank you so much for looking and commenting it means so much to me!!

Hugs and love from Dorthe

  14. Dorthe, it is remarkable how you mould Donna's designs to your style, an instantly recognised style of being "Dorthe art".
The pretty colours and the beautiful combination of textures, you created a girl who is definitely at home with nature and your eye for detail - the sequins in her hair remind me of dew drops that might have got caught in her hair as she runs through a forest. Beautiful the way you coloured the thread, which you used to tie the feathers, to co-ordinate with the panel.
