Hi
there, I have a rather girly tag to share this week as I’ve dug out my rather
under used shades of pink and purple and challenged myself to do something with
them. The end result was a very grungy background so a simple stamped image was
all that I needed to pull it together.
Ingredients:
That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencils – Long Hearts Background, Bubble Wrap Background
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic Paints – shades of pink and purple
Recipe:
Prepare
the tag by swiping on the shades of pink and purple acrylic paints with an old
store card until the surface is covered. Work roughly horizontally first with
the stronger shades, then vertically with a couple of toning lighter shades.
Use
the hearts stencil with deep pink paint to add a pattern in a couple of areas
then repeat with the bubble wrap stencil and purple paint in other areas. I
then dry brushed on a little of the palest pink shade (Sherbet in my case) to
knock back the stencilling a little.
I
next stamped Bentley directly on the tag with black ink and again on mixed
media paper. I then painted the image on the paper with the lilac acrylic
paint, adding details with watercolour pencils. I then cut the image out,
chopping off the whiskers and glued this over the image on the tag. This saves
fiddly cutting out of the whiskers.
I
finished off with a clipping sticker and some baker’s twine tied through the
top.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.

Bentley looks very contented Fliss. I too am guilty of under using certain colours but I always find it so refreshing when they are used. Nothing like a bit of paint scraping to give fabulous effects..! A very Happy Tag indeed.

Beautiful Fliss! Love the colour combination (pink and purple were the uniform colours in one of the places where I worked as a children's Centre teacher!!!) and Bentley looks very happy to be there Xx
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful, and as I love pink and purple, it just perfect, for my eyes, Fliss. And I agree with Bentley, nothing like stars and glitter :-)
ReplyDeleteI have to try the scraping method , never really did it, and it looks wonderful here.

The colours are rather unused here too - but this makes me want to play with them! Great tag Fliss x
ReplyDeletethis is beautiful -- it really touches my heart. xo
ReplyDeleteI think it's great to take those leaps of colour faith - and it's certainly worked here - a charming tag.
