Time for Shimmer Paints by Nikki Acton

Hi everyone, Nikki here with another project featuring the new That’s Crafty! products launched recently. This design is a 6x6 inch white/greyboard panel.

For this design I prepared the surface of the panel and the greyboard embellishments by stippling thick gesso over the surface – to create texture. I also scratched into the wings with my craft knife. Then, as I have done before, I began sponging the That’s Crafty! Shimmer paints onto the surfaces.

Base – Turquoise and Copper

Edge – Black (chalk paint), Red and Orange Shimmer paints

Clock – Aquamarine and Copper

Wings – I blended Dark Blue with Red at the edges and also added a little black and orange.

These embellishments really are fabulous for altering and painting!

Happy crafting!

Nikki

  1. Great techniques Nikki, it's a good feeling when you find a way to cover a project which you know will produce the effect you wanted. I can see how tactile it is and your colour combo is a real winner!! Thanks for the inspiration.. Hugs Tracey xx

  2. Wow, Nikki, I love it, -the mix of paints and colors gives such beautiful tones, and the texture from gesso is gorgeous, and the sponging of paint gives a soft lovely interaction between the colors.
A wonderful inspirational piece. Dorthe, xx
