The Passing of Time by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

Friday saw the launch of new goodies from That’s Crafty! If you missed the shows on HOCHANDA, you should be able to catch them on their rewind service.

The project I am sharing is one of the samples I made for the show, featuring the beautiful Antique Gold paint, Surfaces Bits and Pieces, also White/Greyboard Surface and That’s Crafty! clear stamps, so lots of products on this panel.

I am not here to influence anyone but thought I’d share some views on the new products that appear on this project.

. the fluidity of the Antique Gold was exceptionally beautiful when working with Infusions and I was unsure of the Antique Gold would lose any vibrancy but not at all.

. the clockface is highly detailed yet I had no trouble popping out the pieces (saving them, of course!).  I applied Gesso, Rust Finish and Gold Paint and was expecting some warping to take place on such a delicate design but none at all – that is impressive.

. the same with the white/greyboard panel with lots of media applied and when I say I generously mist with water, I do mean generous, there is a lot of water applied which is usually the enemy of such panels.

Supplies

That’s Crafty! Surfaces Bits and Pieces Greyboard: Clock Face from Cogs & Clock, Dragonfly from Butterflies & Wildflowers
That’s Crafty! Clear Stamp Sets: Lynne’s Affirmations Set 1, Texture Set 1
Extras: Collage Image (Redlead Paperworks), Re-cycled Sari Silk Ribbon, lace and fabric scraps

Instructions

Apply Gesso to dragonfly, clock face and white/greyboard panel – it isn’t necessary to apply Gesso to the white/greyboard panel mainly because when I work with Infusions, I prefer the end result when working with a layer of Gesso but it is purely a preference.

Apply Grunge Paste to panel. Sprinkle Infusions, misting generously with water, allowing colour to drip. Dip sari ribbon into the excess colour which runs off the panel. Stamp script, numbers and crackle onto panel, randomly.

Apply Rust Finish to clockface and dragonfly. With fingers, apply Antique Gold, skimming the surface only.

Adhere clockface over collage image. Assemble, layering clockface with rusted lace and scrap of coffee stained fabric. Stamp your and story from different Affirmations. I stamped onto scrap paper from cutting out the collage image. Distress edges, adhering to panel.

Finally, wrap Infusions stained sari ribbon around dragonfly before adhering to panel.

I am sure I will be sharing more of the sample projects made, in the coming weeks.

Lynne

  4. Love this grungy piece in true Lynne style. I was fascinated how the paints suspend themselves over other paints especially the Antique gold. It's amazing when you have a product that will do more than one thing.. Super project showcasing some of those wonderful embellishments..
