Fleur - A Brooch by Lynne Moncrieff

This week I am sharing another project featuring one of Donna’s stamps, this time to make a brooch.

Supplies

Old Rolling Pin
Brooch Pin Back
Button
Cotton Thread
E6000 Glue or Gel Medium
Fabric Stiffener
Vintage Doily

Instructions

Roll paperclay to required thickness. Ink up flower and stamp into the paperclay. Create marks around the flower, I used the edge of an acrylic stamping block. Leave to dry.

When dry, paint the flower, background, edges and rear. Apply varnish. Embellish flower centre with old button. At this stage you could adhere a brooch pin to the back of the piece or as I did … cut motif from vintage doily and following manufacturer’s instructions, apply fabric stiffener.

Once dry, adhere to rear of paperclay piece and finally adhere a brooch pin (I had to pin it slightly off centre at the back as the paperclay shape was irregular)

Until next time

Wishes

Lynne

  5. Such a sweet and funny idea ,to use Donna`s pretty flower stamp, to create a brooch, dear Lynne. Love the rustic look, you created with the form of the brooch and the heaviness of the doily. Maybe I`m right that you used the backside of the button ? I always do that, with that kind of buttons,-aslooking much prettier than the front ,lol. You always find new ways of using stamps, and clay,- so wonderful. xx
