Locked Heart by Lynne Moncrieff

This pendant was made earlier in the year as a gift. It features a beautifully detailed Prima Relics and Artifacts. This particular heart is the one that has pretty detail etched into it.

Although I worked with ICE Resin, which is a unique product for its clarity and doming qualities, you could substitute it for Liquid Glass or you could simply embellish the recess without encasing it in any product. All the Relics and Artifacts are blank “canvases” for how you want to work with them, with the products you have to hand or the products you are most comfortable working with.

Supplies

Martha Stewart Metallic Acrylic Paint – Rose Copper, Rust, Copper
ICE Resin (for a similar appearance, substitute with DecoArt Media Liquid Glass)
Basic Jewellery Tools
Chain (substitute with Idea-ology Chain)
Clasp/Closure for chain
Jump Rings (substitute with Idea-ology Jump Rings)
Various Beads
Embellishment – Small Resin Lock
Vintage French Book Text
Craft Sheet (for working with Resin)
Trim (for edging heart)

Instructions

Apply paints to the heart with a foam brush, the first layer is Antarctic, aiming for a distressed appearance.

Add the torn French book text into the recess, followed with the lock resin embellishment. At this point I filled the recess with ICE Resin but you could substitute with Liquid Glass. If working with Liquid Glass, it might be an idea to slowly build up the layers, allowing each to dry before adding another layer, this is quite a deep recess.

Apply two thin coats of the Ultra Matte Varnish, leaving to dry between coats.

Adhere trim to edge of heart then it is just a matter of creating a beaded chain to suspend the heart and adding a clasp/closure.

Until next time,

Wishes
Lynne

  2. This Relic Piece is even nicer In real life as I can vouch for and the details you incorporate make it a real treasure. The detail within the ice resined area is stunning as is the touch of braid.
The chain is also beautifully pieced together. I love wearing it and have received lots of compliments

  5. Oh Lynne, it is such a beautiful necklace. But I see I was wrong in thinking you stamped the pattern, yourself, in the heart. I now see it must have been there already, from it was born. I love the ice resin decket hole, and that you added the keyhole ,also those lovely colors, dearest !!

  11. What a wonderful piece and a wonderful gift! Your expertise with making jewelry is beyond my greatest imagination. The heart is such a fantastic piece all by itself but your insertion of the old text and the keyhole makes it more beautiful and mysterious. I admire your talent with putting the chain and beads together. What a great gift to give! Best to you, inkybru xx
