Today I am showing you the new ATC Box made by That’s Crafty! in MDF. I love these little boxes a great way to store and display ATC's either your own or those you have received in a swap. My idea for this box was industrial grunge using the new Prima Finnabair paints to create a rusty/patina finish.
I put the box panels together and glues. Any acrylic/pva type glue would be fine, I used Cosmic Shimmer.

Next a coat of Gesso and then I applied Modelling Paste through the stencils on all 4 outer surfaces.

Next I glued on my industrial looking bits, I didn’t want to completely cover the stencilling just give a feel of maybe a mechanical operations panel (at this point it is probably obvious I have no idea what one is!).

Next came the painting. For the inside I chose to use the Moonshadow Mists these are based on Walnut Ink so have a brown base but each is packed with a colour mica pigment so give a rich metallic feel. Also with them being very fluid I could get lots of dripping and blending as I wanted the feel of something that had been used and abused a lot not even. I added rough stamping with the two Prima Finnabair and Carabelle stamps in black Archival ink. Next I added a few splashes of the Tarnished Brass Distress Stain.

For the outside I used the new Prima Finnabair Art Alchemy Acrylic Paints in Light Patina dabbing the colours around using a sponge (Pic 5). When dry I worked into the colour with the Rusty Red, Rich Turquoise and Green Olive as well as the Copper and Light Patina.

Finally a smear or two of the DecoArt Metallic Lustre in Black Shimmer over the texture and the top edges.
