Hi
there, I have a mixed media art panel to share this week, which came about as
I’m trying to use up some of the bits and pieces I seem to have accumulated. I
also seem to be going through a blue phase at the moment so I hope you like
this.
Ingredients:
That’s Crafty! Dinky Stencils – Chequerboard Background, Enchanted, Long Hearts
Background
PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylics – China, Blush, Bubble Gum, Lavender
Ranger Archival Ink – Watering Can, Jet Black, Cactus Flower
Scrap
of Black Card
Violet
Gems
Scrap
of Ribbon
Waffle
Non Slip Mat (from local cheap store)
Recipe:
I
coloured the white/grey board by applying dots of the blue and pink paints to
the Gelli Plate and spreading the paint with the brayer. I then pressed the
waffle pattern mat into the paint to remove some and make an impression. I
pressed the panel on to pick up the colour.
I
then used the chequerboard stencil with the gesso to add some pattern around
the edges. I mixed a little of the deeper pink paint with gesso and used this
with the hearts stencil to add more pattern at random. I added more pink to the
gesso and added a little more stencilling with the chequer design.
Using
the grey ink, I stamped the hydrangea on some paper from my Gelli plate stash,
which was made with Lavender paint – I find it really handy to have some plain
painted pieces for stamping on. I then stamped some florets on another piece
coloured with Picked Raspberry Distress ink. I stamped the butterfly on the
same paper.
I
next stamped the angel tag on stamping paper using the black ink and stencilled
my chosen text on the same paper with the pink ink. I cut everything out and
die cut a circle from the waffle mat to add some texture.
I
stamped the flower border image in 2 rows just below the centre of the panel
with black ink. I then assembled the panel as shown below, using a mix of glue
and foam tape for dimension, and finishing off with some gems for added
sparkle.
We
have a new challenge for you today over at That’s Crafty! Challenge Blog so
don’t forget to check it out at 8am for some fabulous inspiration from the
Design Team and to find out how you can win a great prize.
Have
a great weekend and see you next week.

Lovely make with fab colour combo
ReplyDeleteI love this colour combo Fliss it is so 'on trend' - being Pantone's colour for 2016. Yours is slightly darker in value but still works beautifully together. I also love the background stencils as it brings it altogether. Your focal point Lao works so well. A lovely piece. Hugs Debs xx
ReplyDeleteLovely feminine spring time make!
