Happy Easter everybody and today I have a sort of chocolate themed make in that I have altered a box which originally held chocolates. The box measures 5 x 3.5 x 1.5 inches and I liked the way the lid closed which is why I kept it. I’ve gone for a shabby chic feel for my box.

To start I gave the front cover a coat of black Gesso and a coat of white Gesso everywhere else. The reason for this is I wanted to test out how the Art Alchemy Opal Magic paints, which are different colours depending on whether they go on over black  white, would in fact work. On the cover I applied white modelling paste through the Moc Croc stencil.

When dry I painted it with the Opal Magic Blue-Gold which left the white texture areas a soft pearly blue and the black cracks between the texture was gold.

On the inside cover I used black texture paste through the Abstract Stones stencil and when dry again painted with the Opal Magic in Blue-Gold and this time the black stencil area went gold and the white area the soft blue. I painted the remaining exterior of the box in the Blue–Gold and added smears of the Pink-Blue. I added smears of the Vintage Rose to the edges.
I painted the inside of the box with the Light Patina. I wanted to use the Prima Relic heart but the box was rather deep for this so I made a little cushion using some old fabric glued (not sewn) round the edges with some polystyrene balls packing.
I placed a tiny amount of the TiffanyLou Blue on my mat and added water and dabbed my lace into it to take off the “whiteness” and wrapped it round my cushion.
For the heart I stamped with Versafine using a floral stamp and added the Cosmic Shimmer EP and heat set it. Next I painted with the Art Alchemy Metallique in Vintage Rose wiping away from the embossed area and then dabbed over the Opal Magic Pink Blue. Once the heart was nestled in its cushion I added some microbeads randomly.

I wanted to use some metal embellishment for the front and in order to get the best effect from the Opal Magic paints I painted them first with black Gesso. And when dry the Opal Magic in Pink-Blue. I also painted some white paper flowers with the Light Patina and Vintage Rose paints and attached everything with Glossy Accents. Finally a little glitter to complete.
