Under the Sea by Gill Humphrey

I love the Blue Dream papers as they are so fresh but still have lots of layered details. For my make this week I have returned to the Houses Upright set but decided to only use 3 of the houses that come in the piece so I had a bigger area at the front of the houses to decorate. I started by covering both sides of the houses with papers from the 8 x 8 paper pad but you could just as easily use the same patterns from the 12 x 12 paper pad. I then covered the base piece and once the glue had dried cut out the slots for the three houses I was using.

I then made lots of embellishments using resin and the Elements mould. For those of you that have other Stamperia moulds with shells the ones in this mould are considerably bigger so you are definitely not doubling up by buying this mould it just allows you to mix and match sizes according to your needs. 

The resin pieces were primed with white Primer Paste before being given a base layer of Milk White Allegro. For the boat, lighthouse and icons I then used blue allegro paint, wiping it back to soften the effect in some areas. The pieces were further softened by applying and then wiping back White Antiquing Gel. 

 

The fish were painted with blue, Yellow and Coral Red paints wiping back and allowing the colours to mix before drying and then distressing with White Antiquing Gel. The shells were painted with Cookie and Earth paints. The darkest of the shells was then distressed using Rust Vintage Patina.

The completed pieces were then adhered in place as shown before tucking into spaces some of the wooden shells and pieces from the Ephemera collection (you can fussy cut similar elements from the paper pads). To complete my piece I then glued randomly in place some of the 3D Balls and Coarse 3d Powder. 

I do hope you like this alternative way of using the house Uprights and that it gives you the courage to customise your products - I will definitely find a use for the remaining house shape so watch out for it appearing in the future.
