Hi Everyone,
This last week I've been 'playing' with some of Tim Holtz products again and have a mixed media art panel to share with you today that stars one of the 'Inquisitive' gents that on this occasion goes by the name 'Mr Blue' a man of maths and all things related.
The Background Panel
I began by adhering 2 That's Crafty! 4x4 panels together and painting them black.
1 panel would be ok - I just wanted the finished piece to have some thickness.
I then cut some canvas paper to various sizes and arranged them on the painted panel leaving small gaps between each piece to create a 'gridded' design.
Next came the addition of colour and for this I used Tim Holtz Prize Ribbon Distress paint, black and white paint too. The colours were applied with a brayer, working with them one at a time and drying in between.
When happy with the build up of colour I moved on to add some stamping.
For this I used the numbers, the dots and the crosses (plus/addition signs according to Mr Blue) all from Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous 'Inquisitive' stamp set . I stamped with Tim's Black Soot Distress Archival ink assigning each stamp design to a different piece of the gridded canvas paper design.
Once the stamping was complete I finished the background panel with some white pen highlighting and some white paint splatters.
The Focal Feature including Mr Blue
This was the sum of a few parts- from bottom to the top:
A die cut circle painted black followed by a white card die cut circle, the circumference caught with Prize Ribbon Distress ink then edged with black paint.
Next a That's Crafty! Craftyboard circle which was covered with a circle of canvas that I cut to size after stamping and embossing it with the 'target' stamp from the 'Inquisitive' stamp set. The white ring of the target was tinted with Prize Ribbon Distress spray stain.
Last but by no means least the star of the show Mr Blue!
He was stamped and embossed, cut out, water coloured with Distress inks (Prize ribbon, Black Soot, Tattered Rose) before taking his place on his layered platform.
The man of numbers and all think Maths insisted on an angled shot - how could I refuse?!!
Canvas Paper (own stash) but white card could be use instead
Circle Die Cuts (own stash)
I hope you have enjoyed your time here today meeting Mr Blue.
He and I thank you for taking the time to pop by.
Hope you have a fun creative week
Take Care
Amanda
