Hi Everyone
Today I'm following on from last week's make (that can be seen here) having more fun creating with Tim Holtz products including the newly released Stampers Anonymous Stamp Set 'Inquisitive' and the gorgeous new colour addition to the Distress family 'Prize Ribbon'.
This time instead of a card I have created a postcard that could be given as you would a card or alternately displayed in any way you choose around your home/office/studio.
On a postcard size panel of white cardstock I stamped and embossed the two 'gents and a couple of the 'phrases' from Tim's 'Inquisitives' stamp set ( CMS432). I used black Archival ink and super fine clear embossing powder for this.
I then stamped the gents again onto a spare piece of card, cut them out and used them as 'masks' to cover the embossed gents to keep them protected from the background colour and detail I added next.
To create an initial layer of colour I applied some of the Oxide to a craft mat, spritzed it with water and then 'smooched' the card through the ink and dried. I wanted the colour to be subtle so only took the card to the excess ink on the mat one more time and dried again.
I then used Prize Ribbon Distress ink to create a reverse stencil print of Tim's 'Grid Dot' layering stencil.
To do this I applied the ink directly to the stencil, spritz the ink very lightly with water, flipped the stencil over and placed it ink side down on the background, pressing lightly around the stencil before lifting off.
Loved the result and as you can see the masks had done their intended job!
To add some detail to the sides of the background panel I stamped around the gents with the 'target' stamp and the small dots from the same stamp set, finishing with a few light splatters of black paint.
The gents were looking a little pale so they were treated to a light 'Tattered Rose' Distress ink makeover and they both insisted on showing off their new 'Prize Ribbon' shirts.
To finish, the panel was matt n layered onto white and black cardstock before being mounted onto a That's Crafty! white/ greyboard panel, cut to size to give it more rigidity.
