Hello
This is a page from a journal I continue to work in. It is a That's Crafty! Journal but although unfortunately this particular journal is not available now, That's Crafty! have an ever increasing range of journals to select from.
A piece of dried fern from summer 2020 was the springboard for this journal page.

Instructions
To begin, onto sheet of cardstock, after applying clear Gesso, the wonderful Pearl Inks were applied and to this, misting generously with water, allowing a little time to settle before spraying areas with walnut ink. This was left to air dry. To this, adding small areas of PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic in Caramel (which is no longer in stock). I would suggests substituting with a favourite paint or simply omit this step. It's the Pearl Inks and especially the Walnut Ink that provide the marks to bring interest to this background.
The next layer is a smaller piece of cardstock prepared similar to above but with more Pearl Inks and less Walnut Ink and no other paint applied.
To this, a piece from the Beauty Restless Junk Journal Extras, in the form of a tag shape
with two thin pieces of scrap cardstock with Pearl Inky marks and also some journaling onto one of the strips.
The focal of the tag is a small circle from the Craftyboard Circles set, covering with another scrap from the prepared cardstock and to this, sits a piece of dried fern. To bring another layer to this focal, a mica tile. Tucked behind, fragment of handmade paper sprayed with Walnut Ink (this Walnut Ink is a combination of walnut ink and coffee decanted into spray bottle). After adhering the circle, spraying this area with more walnut ink.
Just to add, if you have never worked with mica tiles, they are easy to delaminate and cut into.
To the right of this, a piece of cotton rag paper (again, scrap piece), dipped into walnut ink and once dry, stamping one of the Scribbled Words stamps with Jet Black Ink. When working with heavily textured papers, especially handmade, the stamping will never appear as sharp and crisp if using smooth cardstock but I like the appearance it provides.
It was then a matter of layering the stamped words with a piece of walnut ink stained muslin.
Thank you for your visit.
