My Lockdown Motto! by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
For this weeks make I have been playing in my Art by Marlene small art journal, whose pages are just short of 6" x 8" which is a great size to work with.

I've also come out of my colour comfort zone as I do like to use a lot of brights but I've used a colour I don't really go for as i'm playing with green, I have no idea why I don't use green it just doesn't call me but as you can see in this piece I have used a fair bit of green.

Here's What I Did:

The background, I have to confess, was made several months ago when I was playing with the Gel Press and Carabelle Studio Art Printing Unmounted Plates, the one I used is from Kate Crane called 'Flowers & Leaves'. I created 2 prints by stamping the plate into the paint I had laid onto the Gel Press to leave an impression and then pulling the print and the 2nd print is by stamping with the plate onto a clean sheet of card using the paint on the stamp to create another background.

Here you can see the 2 prints this technique gives you. I combined the 2 to create the start of the background.

Next I started adding to the background, I added some circles, punching out circles from scrap painted tissue paper and doodling around them, a selection of washi tape pieces, there is also a little bit of script stamping in green but it looks a bit subtle.

I also added some pieces of 13arts designer paper that I had cut to size and stitched around with a sewing machine. no photo but you can see in the final piece. I stuck washi tape to card and cut into strips to make the washi tape more rigid.

I stamped the fabulous image designed by Kate Crane onto stamping card and coloured with coloured pencils before cutting out leaving a small white border around the image.

The final addition was the addition of a Tim Holtz Snarky sticker that really sums up my lockdown existence!

Here's What I Used:
Acrylic Paints lots to choose from HERE
Archival Peeled Paint Ink Pad
13arts Papers 'Young & Free' Collection (I used some scraps left from a previous project)
Additional Washi Tapes from my stash
Coloured Pencils
Sewing Machine
Have a great week and I'll see you all next Tuesday
Love
Amanda X
