Steampunk News by Liz Wheeler

Many thanks to Laura at That's Crafty! for asking me to guest blog again for a few weeks while the lovely Gill Humphreys recovers from her poorly wrist.

For today's project I have used some lovely moulds from Stamperia, Sprays from 13 Arts and Patinas from Daily Art to create a textured cover for my journal.

To start I used a piece of thick card stock as a base for my cover and added some torn pieces of On the Wall 12x12 inch paper from 13 Arts.

I then added some soft clay to the Wall Street Journal soft mould from Stamperia. Once dry I  added to my card with gel medium.

I then spritzed the piece with some 13 Arts Ayeeda Mists in Pastel BerryChalk Sap Green and Pastel Dirty Pink. I dried off the ink, then used a dry brush and white gesso to knock the colour back. For the focal point I stamped a Studiolight Grunge Collection stamp and brushed some Patina Bronze Ayeeda Mist over the image to give it a distressed look. This was added to the cover.

I randomly stamped Vintage Letter from 13 Arts to some of the background with black ink to add more detail to the piece.

I then used the Gears Fantasy mould from Stamperia to add some cog details. Once dry I spritzed with the Ayeeda Patina Bronze and then used a dry brush to add Daily Art Patina wax in SilverBronze, and Emerald to create a realistic effect for the cogs.

Finally I added the cover to my book.

I hope you enjoyed this project and I look forward to sharing more inspiration with you next week.
