Beautiful Nature by Fliss Goodwin

In the depths of a grey and very chilly Winter, my thoughts turn to warmer times and I long for some colour which is how this sample I created for this week's One Day Special on Hocghanda came about. I love how nature always seems to reappear especially on sites where places have been abandoned and green shoots soon start to grow.

Step by Step:

My chosen substrate for this is an MDF Chunkie which I assembled first using That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Glue. I then took the new mandala stencil and used this with texture paste to add partial patterning on the surface.

I then painted the surface with slightly watered down Green and Lime Multi Surface Paint followed by a little Green Satin ink.

I used the plain Craftyboard sheet to cut 3 strips which I cut with scissors to create old, distressed fence panels which I Then decorated using the Tree Bark stencil with texture paste.

Once the paste was dry, I painted my fence panels with watered down Multi Surface Paints using Chestnut Brown, Black, Grey, Orange and Green. When they were dry I gave then a rough brush with Acrylic Wax.

I stamped lots of sweet peas on smooth stamping paper with black ink and coloured them with Satin Inks and cut them out. I also stamped a few leaves from Melina's Tree and Leaf set on a scrap of inky paper and cut these out too.

I then assembled my Chunkie, gluing on the flowers to wind up the distressed fence panels and adding in a few leaves for colour contrast. I finished off with the text which I stamped on another inky scrap.

I hope you caught the shows with fab demos from the lovely Lou Sims but if not there's always rewind and worth a look to see the gorgeous new goodies in action.
