Hello!
This week I decided to share my rather more frosty mixed media artwork as the weather has turned somewhat more chilly so I felt it time for a bit of winter sparkle.
Step by Step:
This was actually a go with the flow piece of artwork and the added elements came about as I made a bit of a mistake on the background and needed to cover it up!
I began by scraping white gesso roughly over the MDF driftwood panel not covering it all as I wanted a worn grungy effect.
I then used the tree bark stencil with white texture paste to add a pattern roughly on each section of the panel. At this point I dry brushed green paint on the patterned areas but didn't like it so I went over the top with more white gesso.
To add texture to the panel, I glued on some loosely woven tapestry canvas which I pulled to make it more irregular. I painted some packaging material roughly with white gesso and added this on top.
I next scrunched up some torn muslin and glued this on the bottom panel. Once the additions were dry, I scraped fine texture paste (which has lovely holographic bits in it) over the muslin, packaging and at the top left corner for some lovely sparkle. I then misted the panel with frost lustre spray.
I stamped my fox and some leafy fronds on smooth paper and coloured them in soft pastel shades with brush pens.
I took some Craftyboard berries and leaves painting them with Pink and Brown Multi Surface Paints and scraping the Fine Texture Paste on the leaves for a frosty look.
I then assembled the rest of my driftwood panel finishing off with a Craftyboard domino painted Pink and frosted with Fine Texture Paste, adding text stamped on ink spray overflow scrap and cut into tiles. Twisted wire was added at the top.
Extras - Loose weave tapestry canvas, muslin, recycled honeycomb packaging
Have a great weekend and see you next week.
Fliss x
