Our Stories by Lynne Moncrieff

 Hello

I was deliberately seeking products to provide me with focals for projects and that is when I stumbled across the Finnabair Mixed Media Tissue Paper. Previously in the Beautiful Dreamer post, I selected the smallest image of a female on the sheet, this time I opted for the larger size image of her. She has such a thoughtful look to her eyes which is enchanting and makes me wonder what her thoughts are, what her dreams are and her stories. For this reason, I couldn't resist pairing her with a sweet butterfly from a Craft O'Clock Rice Sheet, it could represent her fleeting thoughts or the dreams she wants to take off.

With a dip pen, journaling was incorporated on the frame, background and tissue paper strands.  The paper strands conjuring images of paper from a journal or diary.

Supplies

Extras: Tissue Paper, Lace Trim, Dip Pen, Needle, Black Sewing Thread

Instructions

Onto a MDF panel prepared with Gesso, an area was torn from the Mixed Media Tissue Paper, focusing on the script area.

Wanting to push back the script, a wash of Gesso was applied.

To this, Walnut Ink was sprayed and areas of Pearl Inks, misting with water. As I applied this media and water, the Tissue Paper began to wrinkle but I actually liked that effect and was happy to go with it but once the media dried, I noticed the wrinkles appear to disappear. (You can see the wrinkles in the photo below - the panel was still drying at this time).

I selected the house frame from an Art Shrine, preparing with Gesso before using the same media as mentioned above.

Selecting one of the images of a woman from the Tissue Paper, she would be placed behind the house frame.

After adhering the image, the house frame was adhered over her.

At this stage Interference Paint in Gold was applied to the frame and panel, with a dry brush and almost a stippling motion in particular areas. Also working with Pearl Ink in Black and black watersoluble pencil.

With a dip pen, script was added, messy script where I allow the words to free flow. The script added to the background panel and areas of the frame.

Onto tissue paper (recycled), sprayed with Walnut Ink, one of the Affirmations was stamped.

After adhering the Affirmation to bottom edge of frame, on the upper area, a butterfly is the focal. Torn from the Rice Paper, layering with muslin and torn lace trim, also stained with Walnut Ink.

Only the body of the butterfly is adhered to the bundle of scraps, allowing the wings to sit upwards.

Onto other scraps of tissue paper stained with Walnut Ink, with a dip pen and the Black Pearl Ink, journaling thoughts allowing drops of ink to soak into the tissue paper.

The two pieces stitched together with naive black stitches before adhering to upper left corner of the panel.

Thank you for your visit to this post. On my social media I will be sharing a wee video to show the Interference Gold Paint.
