Hi Everyone
Welcome to my Thursday weekly DT post.
As its Halloween at the end of the month I thought I'd create a fun halloween card to share with you today.
The card could either be sent as a greeting card to wish someone 'Happy Halloween' or you could make several and use them as invitations to a halloween party that you may host in the future, as no doubt there won't be many parties this year!
I've combined one of AALL and Creates recent release stamps: 'Lined Hexagons' designed by Bipasha BK with one of Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous stamp sets from last year: 'Mr Bones'. He's adopted the name 'Mr Hex Bones' during the making of this card !
The colours are all thanks to Tim Holtz Distress inks and paints.
The background was created using what I have come to know as the 'Wrinkle Free Distress Technique':
Apply the inks directly onto a craft mat, spritz with water and then smoosh the substrate through the ink. Dry with a heat gun (air dry if preferred but obviously this will slow creativity down).
Repeat the steps mentioned -ink, spritz, smoosh, dry and continue in this way until happy with the result.
I worked with heavy white card stock and Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Carved Pumpkin distress inks.
Next I stamped over the distress coloured background using AALL and Creates 'Lined Hexagon' stamp with Versafine black ink. I used a stamping platform for this. Just my preference as the platform allows me to overstamp with precision if the first stamping isn't as defined as I want it to be.
After leaving the stamped ink to dry I then coloured in some of the hexagons using distress paints - the same colours as the inks mentioned above.
The finished background was matt n layered onto a panel of white and black cardstock before being adhered to a hand made white card.
Time for 'Mr Bones, I mean "Mr Hex- Bones', on this occasion!
He was stamped onto white card, again using black Versafine ink and a stamping platform. Once dry he was cut out and his skull was lightly shaded using Hickory Smoke distress ink as a watercolour. He was adhered centrally onto the background with foam pads for some dimension.
His hat was embellished with a couple of small hexagons to complement the background and bring some of it to the fore, while one of his teeth turned green....
.... to match his green googly eye?

Gorgeously colourful and detailed background for Mr Bones Amanda. Really love the way his eye pops too and the title is so clever.
