Hi Everyone
I hope this post finds you all well. For this weeks post I hope you don't mind me sharing another of the samples I made for the latest That's Crafty! product launches that aired recently on Hochanda. To be honest I have been on a massive de-cluttering exercise these last 2 week and to say that my craftroom is in absolute chaos would be an understatement!!! As such I just haven't had the space to create anything new and because I can't create in the chaos I think it plays with my mind!!
I gave this one a spooky feel especially with Halloween looming.
Here's What I Did:
I started with the tag Inchies, Twinchies, Dominoes kit which you get an MDF tag and enough of the Craftyboard pieces to completely cover the rectangle. On this occasion I didn't want to completely cover and went for an over lapping design exposing the background, this meant I also had some pieces left for another project. For my background on the MDF tag I first covered it with white gesso and then over that painted using Lime Multi Surface Paint. Once the paint was dry I stencilled over the paint using one of the new stencils, Damask, using black Archival ink and an ink blending tool. I then lightly sanded over the black ink to distress it slightly. Next was to decorate each of the pieces. This was using a mixture of techniques and I added some clear acrylic pieces (these can be bought separately).
This is the top right of the tag. Some have been painted in black gesso and stencilled using That's Crafty! Black Texture Paste, again through the Damask stencil, and then lightly brushed with silver wax. I had some scraps of card that I had previously used the crackle medium with, those scraps were grey with sandstone and black with Christmas Red Multi Surface Paints, so I covered some of the pieces with those. They have then been edged with Black Soot Distress Ink. There are some of the new Craftyboard embellishment pieces that have also been painted with black gesso and a touch of wax added. Finally some of the pieces have been stamped onto using some of the new stamp sets perfectly sized to fit these pieces. I have stamped in both ink and heat embossed in black to add a difference in texture to the stamping.
Here you can see the distress effect of the background as I described above and also the use of one of the acrylic pieces, domino. I stamped the window stamp from Set 4 and heat embossed onto the acrylic, I then painted behind using That's Crafty! Satin Ink in Red, which gives a translucent finish on the acrylic piece. I then mounted the piece onto a twinchie that I had covered in old book paper and coloured with Black Soot Distress ink.
I had to add another window done in the same way and the crow has been heat embossed in black onto one of the crackle pieces whilst the door has been stamped directly onto the book paper that again has been coloured with distress ink.
The spider heat embossed in black directly onto an acrylic inchie with nothing behind, the wing stamped and heat embossed onto a piece just painted with ChristmasRred paint and coloured with Black Soot Distress Ink.
Bottom left of the tag same techniques using more of the Craftyboard pieces and stamping, I just love that dripping stamp over the crackle effect.
And finally the addition of the word fear using the Craftyboard Alphabet Set 2 all painted with black gesso and the addition a some more of the silver wax.
Here's What I Used:
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - Lime, Grey, Sandstone, Christmas Red, Black
Versamark Ink Pad (Currently out of stock)
Have a great week and I will see you all next Tuesday
Love

I'm really enjoying your twinchie/inchie patchworks... so many cool techniques and surfaces - and the colour palette is very cool here too. The little wildflower stem and the Gothic windows are amongst my favourites, but really it's in the cumulative effect of all those eerie images that you've hit the jackpot with this one. Fabulous!

ReplyDeleteA really stunning piece of artwork Amanda. The background is gorgeous and the decoration of the mini pieces of artwork is just gorgeous.
