Courage An Art Shrine by Lynne Moncrieff

 Hello

You are no doubt aware of the range of Art Shrines produced by That's Crafty! and I've certainly written before about their versatility no matter the style of art you create.

I wanted quite an understated style for this particular shrine and had scraps of leftover Mixed Media Tissue Paper, perfect for covering the shrine. A MDF heart covered with painted cardstock and displaying a stamped Affirmation, is the focal of this Art Shrine.

Instructions

After assembling the Art Shrine, it was a matter of preparing with white Gesso and then, I reached for Finnabair Mixed Media Tissue Paper. I already had torn into one sheet for previous projects but obviously saving any leftover pieces. Torn pieces were utilized for covering the Art Shrine.

The focal in the shrine would be a MDF heart. I looked through my stock of prepared papers and found one, simply white cardstock with Pearl Inks applied.

Before adhering to the MDF, with dip pen and Black Pearl Ink, journaling around the edge of the heart.

After adhering the paper heart to the MDF, it was a matter of inking up (partially inking up) an Affirmation. To add definition, the stamped words were adhered to CraftyBoard scraps.

To have the heart upright in the Shrine it was again scraps of CraftyBoard which helped me out.  Cutting one piece and creating two folds, it forms a small propped hinge for the heart.  Covering the CraftyBoard with the tissue paper allows it to blend and can really only be seen when viewing from the side of the Shrine.

To have a more cohesive appearance to the shrine, white Gesso was dry brushed.

This is the rear of the shrine.

Marks were made and edges defined with black watersoluble pencil and a simple adornment of a vintage button threaded with black cotton sewing thread.

What would you display in an Art Shrine?

Thank You for your visit.
