Zigazig ah by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
For this weeks make I have inked up another fabulous stamp set designed by Kate Crane for Carabelle studio and created an MDF Round Upright.

Here's What I Did:

I selected the MDF Artist Trading Coin Trio Upright, which comes as part of a set of round MDF Uprights, and first covered the pieces with a piece a paper from my background paper pack set 1. I adhered them to the MDF using That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Craft Adhesive.

Once the glue was dry to get I some edge to the pieces I sanded off the paper around the MDF. These papers act great as a starting point to add additional layers and the quality of the paper takes a variety of mediums. I then started adding some Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays and sprayed on some white to lighten it up.

I then added more colours of the gloss sprays but wanted a little more pattern than just the sprays so I just dropped on splatters of the colours and blew them around the surface using Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Blower, Loved the effect you got blowing the gloss sprays and will do this again on a larger scale.

The next stage was to add some stencilling in black using Dina Wakley Black and Turquoise acrylic paint, I just added crosses and x's. I also scribbled around the edges of each of the coins with a black Posca Paint Pen. (sorry forgot to take photo). I edged all the edges of the MDF with a black Kuretake Zig pen.

Next I stamped out, using a Versafine Clair ink pad  3 of the 4 Art Doll stamps onto mixed media card, you could also use water colour card. I coloured the images using Kuretake Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Pens which are water based pens and blended my colours using a water brush. Once coloured in I cut them out leaving a white border around each face but before adding to my coins I added some white cotton which I just scrunched up then laid my image on top of using That's Crafty! glue.

Here you can see each individual coin

The words Girl Power come from the Art by Marlene Sticker book and I couldn't resist a 'Zigazig ah!' for the 3rd face. This I stamped from an alphabet stamp set from my stash. The stand that the coins slot into also got the same paint treatment so it all coordinates.

Here's What I Used:
Dina Wakley Gloss Sprays - White, Magenta, Lemon & Turquoise
Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Blower (sadly currently out of stock)
Dina Wakley Heavy Body Acrylic Paints - Black and Turquoise
Waterbrush new in is a variety water brushes in various sizes from Crafts Too
Art By Marlene Sticker Book (sadly out of Stock)

Have a great week and I will see you all next Tuesday
Love

  2. Oh these are a treat. Love those faces and they work perfectly on the baubles - a really ingenious combination of image and substrate - and great colours too.
