Weathered Love by Amanda Pink

Hi Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly DT post.

Today I am sharing a mini piece of art that I've created with lollipop sticks and the usual mixed media supplies: gesso, paint, sprays, texture mediums, stamps.

To create the slatted background I adhered regular wooden lollipop sticks to a couple of lengths cut from wider lollipop sticks.

The slats were primed the with gesso and painted with a selection of PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic paints (Elephant, Koala, Steel Grey, Venice Blue, Glacier Ice, French Roast, Snowflake). I painted with a dry brush gradually building up the layers working towards a kind of 'distressed weathered look'. The photo below is 'painting in progress '... almost there!

Crackle paint was applied in and around the slatted background to 'add' to the weathered aged appearance. The cracks, when dry, were distressed with a distress crayon (Ground Espresso) and DecoArt media fluid (Quin Gold).
Theres also some crackle stamping using one of the stamps on That's Crafty's Textures 2 collection stamp set....

.....and some That's Crafty! chain cut from their Craftyboard lightbulb sheet. The chains were painted with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Acrylic (French Roast) and DecoArt Media Fluid (Quin Gold)

The central feature is the sum of a few parts.
Starting from the bottom up theres a die cut card circle that was sprayed and dipped in some of Seth Apters Aladine Izink dye sprays (Tea, Coffee, Honey)
A stacked die cut circle created using part of Seth Apters Loop de Loop die. This was crackled and distressed in the same way as mentioned above.
It 'frames' a circle of 13Arts paper that was very lightly coloured with distress ink.
Finally, a That's Crafty! white/greyboard heart that's covered with a piece cut from a rusty panel created previously for another project that never transpired.
It's embellished with some of my own rusty hardware findings...

...and rests on some rusty wire thats wrapped around the slatted background.

For a touch more detail and to finish off a few rub ons were added to the top right and bottom left outer slats.
