Fragile by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

Fragile....in nature and in life.

I like to collect Cow Parsley, to press it dry and also displaying  in simple re-cycled glass bottles but it surely doesn't last for too long, covering surfaces in no time at all.  With this in mind, it made my eyes travel towards the word Fragile on The Language of Trees stamp set.

Supplies
That's Crafty! Clear Stamp Set The Language of Trees Set 1
That's Crafty! Matte Sprays: Redwood, Raspberry, Sage
That's Crafty! Medium White Gesso
That's Crafty! Walnut Ink Crystals
That's Crafty! Multi-Purpose Craft Adhesive
That's Crafty! Multi-Surface Paint: White
That's Crafty! MDF Panel 6" x 6" Pack of 3
Archival Ink Pad Jet Black
Extras: Cotton Rag/Watercolour Paper, Dried Wildflower,

Instructions

Gesso was applied to the MDF panel. The panel is lovely as it is but I like to apply a quick swipe of Gesso, for this instance, the paper panel was slightly smaller than the MDF panel and it just provides a nice finish to those exposed areas.

To the cotton rag paper, after applying Gesso, I then set to work with Walnut Ink crystals and the Flat Matte Sprays.

I already had this paper prepared as I tend to work in batches. When I picked it up, it needed something else to it especially when I laid the pressed wildflower onto it. To the paper I then sprayed on the Sage Spray and then dabbed it with a rag to soak up excess.

With a flat brush, I then dry brushed Gesso onto the panel, which provided more texture.

Adhering the paper to the MDF panel, a thin piece of excess paper was also sprayed with walnut ink and more Gesso, adhering towards lower edge of panel.

With the Multi-Surface Paint, in White and a watercolour brush, I dabbed the paint onto the pressed flower.

A scrappy piece of torn shipping tag which had been sprayed with Raspberry before dipping into a jar of walnut ink. To this, simply layered another scrappy piece of paper, this time re-cycled tissue style paper which I added scribbles using a dip pen and ink.

The pressed flower and paper scraps were layered to the panel.

For the upper right corner, four pieces were cut from more of the stained tag. Onto the largest piece, stamping Fragile from The Language of Trees stamp set.

With a black watersoluble pencil, definition was added around this area and also creating some shadows around the wildflower and the paper scraps.

Thank you for your visit.

  1. A really beautiful piece of artwork Lynne. Love the natural tones and the dried flower addition.
