Hi Everyone
I hope you are all keeping safe. This week I am following on from last weeks post and still playing with the fabulous Carabelle Studio stamps designed by Kate Crane and have created another art journal page.
Here's What I Did:
I started by making the background using a Carabelle art printing plate and the gel press.
My first effort didn't work well enough, I brayered blue paint onto the gel press, lay the printing plate into the paint and then picked the print up on a previously brayered piece of card. I felt that the effect was to dark so I went over the top of it all by brayering a layer of white paint onto the printing plate and using it as I would a stamp laid it over the previous background and ended up with the effect as above.
Next steps were to make the fish in the background stand out.
To each of the fish and some of the marks I outlined around them with a black fineliner pen and some coloured pencil work to change them to orange.
I continued with all the fish adding some shading and additional details to the eyes.
Next was the colouring of my main image which is one of Kates fish from the 'Well Dressed Fish' set. I have coloured the fish as to represent clown fish and dressed him up accordingly.
I stamped him out and coloured with coloured pencils, I then just stamped his eye out twice and coloured around it so I could add his eyes into the die cut glasses (the stamp only has one eye). His moustache I drew and cut out from black card, his nose is a stick on bead that I have painted with red Multi Surface Paint, so he is a clown fish dressed as a clown!
The finished panel ended up as 6.5" square and it was going in an 8" x 8" journal. So I painted the page with black gesso which gives a fabulous surface to doodle on and I hand drew the doodling with a white pen to add a frame to the piece.
The words on the piece were typed out on my typewriter and added to the page using gel medium.
Here's What I used:

stay safe and stay home and craft.
See you all next Tuesday

Absolutely love this Amanda. The fishy background is fabulous and love the well dressed focal dapper fish too. Great text too which is so now.

That bespectacled and moustachioed goldfish is fabulous - and he has definitely got the right idea about how to spend his time. Love how you've doodled the background fish to bring them to life too.
