Hi Everyone
Welcome to my Thursday weekly DT post.
This week I have a art panel/card to share with you that I have created by mono printing with a stencil and Distress Oxide inks. The stencil I have used is by PaperArtsy designed by Tracy Scott.
There is really nothing complicated about the creative process so whether you are a beginner or a well- seasoned crafter you could easily create something similar yourself.
Monoprinting was the key with this one as it not only created the stencil design image but it also created the background colour too. There were two layers of mono printing:
Layer 1: Ink the reverse of the stencil with the ink of your choice. I used 2 colours of Distress Oxide Inks: Mustard Seed and Carved Pumpkin.
Spritz the inks with water, flip the stencil and press down onto a precut panel of card.
Press over the unlinked side of the stencil with a cloth to help transfer the ink to the card.
Lift to reveal an image of the stencil design aswell as some background colour.
Dry with a heat gun or leave to air dry.
Layer 2: Repeat the process using a darker ink of your choice to help give some definition to the first coloured layer of mono printing. I used Black Soot Distress Ink.
I further defined the monoprinted design with the help of a black fineliner pen and blended just a touch of the coloured oxides into the petals/ leaves.
As I wanted the centre of the monoprinted design to have just a touch of dimension I repeated all of the above using the central part of the stencil only.
To the background I added a touch of text stamping using a mini Text stamp by PaperArtsy. I used a grey Distress archival ink for this to keep the stamping subtle and more 'suggested' than obvious.
As always with me there was room for some paint splatters!
The monoprinted panel was mat n layered onto ivory cream and black card and to finish off I
added a small talk sticker: 'Cultivate Kindness'.

I love that monoprinting technique Amanda, just wish I could get the same result as you - this is really fabulous! xxx
ReplyDeleteGreat result with the monoprinting - and I really like the warm golden tones here, especially with the dark splatter to grunge it all up (down?) a bit!
