Hi Everyone
Having been MIA for the last month or so its good to be back today in my usual Thursday spot sharing some creativity with you all.
I've had a pack of That's Crafty! ATC MDF Chunkies for some time now and this week saw me finally break into them to create a small 3D piece of art with a bit of a starry theme.
I've had a pack of That's Crafty! ATC MDF Chunkies for some time now and this week saw me finally break into them to create a small 3D piece of art with a bit of a starry theme.
That's Crafty! MDF Chunkies are fabulous surfaces to work on or with. They are available in a range of sizes and are self assembly. There's nothing tricky about assembling them you just push the pieces out of the MDF sheet they sit within and adhere them together. I would highly recommend using That's Crafty! All purpose adhesive for this as I have always found it to be a very strong and lasting adhesive.
So after a quick assembling of my ATC I measured to size, cut and adhered scrapbook paper to all the faces of the ATC. I used one of the paper designs from 13Arts 6x6 'Under the Stars' paper pad.
I applied crackle paste along all the edges of the ATC to add a grungy contrast to the smoothness of the paper.
I also stencilled some textured stars to all the faces of the ATC chunkie using texture paste through That's Crafty's 'Star Showers' dinky stencil- the ideal size for using with ATC's. Once dry I rubbed over them with some white/gold foil.
The focal feature, the Star is made using clay with Prima/ Finnabair Decor Mould: 'Stars and Moon'. I painted the star with PaperArtsy Snowflake Fresco Finish Acrylic paint and caught the sharp lines with gold metallic wax. I them mounted it onto a couple of circular wood chips that I crackled with crackle paint and adhered to the front face of the ATC Chunkie.
In situ it adds even more dimension to the already dimensional Chunkie
To finish off I added a short but suitable quote courtesy of a Tim Holtz metallic sticker .
