Mask It! by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I hope you caught the One Day Special That's Crafty! had this week on Hochanda which was hugely popular as Melina has again designed the most gorgeous stamps, this time with a woodland theme and I was lucky enough to have the rabbit set to play with.

I have 2 very different cards to share which have backgrounds made at the same time with the gorgeous new bubble leaf mask which I know will be a favourite of mine.

Step By Step:

The backgrounds are really quick and simple to make and I began by cutting a piece of thick cartridge paper (this is my paper of choice as it stands up well to ink sprays and paint) to fit my 7 x 5 inch card blank and placed the stencil on the paper. I sprayed it randomly with basil, saffron and walnut flat matte sprays and as you can see, the saffron mixed with the basil to produce a lime shade and with the walnut to create a golden brown. A lovely variation of colours from just 3 sprays.

The second background came about because the stencil was covered in ink after creating the first background and not one to waste it, I took a piece of pre-sprayed paper from my box which was in soft peachy shades ( a combination of rose and saffron I think but diluted to be softer) and placed the stencil on it ink side down.

As you can see it's quite different but still looks rather fab. I also, believe it or not, got one more print on a piece of greenish spray overflow paper and I'll be sharing what I did with it very soon.

The cards I created are quite simple as I didn't want to cover up the backgrounds and below you'll see what I did.

Winter Wishes Card

I stamped the large rabbit on smooth cartridge paper using VersaFine Clair Fallen Leaves ink which is a very dark brown perfect for autumn and winter. I coloured the image with a mix of Zig markers and saffron flat matte spray then cut him out. I stamped the text from the Winter Berries stamp set with the same ink and cut the words out to make tiles. A sparkly bronze mat was added to the background panel and the whole added to a white 7 x 5 card blank.

Somebunny Special Card

This one features some toadstools that I stamped on spray overflow paper and the smaller rabbit stamped on smooth cartridge paper and coloured with grey Zig markers. The text from the main stamp set was stamped with the Fallen Leaves ink and cut out before adding to the card. This time I used a 6 x 6 inch square kraft card blank.

  1. Great backgrounds, Fliss - always love a two-for-the-price-of-one technique! The little rabbits are charming... two lovely cards.
