Learn To Be Silent by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

That's Crafty! Clear Stamps Textures Collection have so many gems, one of my very favourites is a leaf stamp from Set 1 which appears on this collage.

I cannot fully explain this thought but I associate leaves with silence, which is why I selected the "Learn to be silent" words from PaperArtsy stamp.

Instructions

Apologies for poor quality of some of the photos, they were taken in artificial light.

Amongst my box of stained papers, I had a book page which had a wash of Gesso before applying PaperArtsy Infusions.

Onto this, the leaf was stamped twice, tearing around the stamped image.

I already had Texture Paste and paint laid down onto cotton rag panel. The hint of green was a combination of Caran d'ache crayon and Inktense Block.

Onto the panel, I stamped one of the circles from ATCoin Set 11 - as I worked on this further, I decided to change the composition.

Taking the panel and the two stamped leaves to the sewing machine, the leaves were layered together, stitching down the middle, onto the background panel.

Onto scraps (torn edges from the background panel), I stamped elements from the Stitched Mixed Media Background stamp.  Two small pieces are layered to the left side of the leaves.

Other pieces were stitched towards upper left side.
The marks on the left, they are simply marks made with a Stabilio watersoluble pencil, which I also use to create shadows and definition around stitched elements.

The PaperArtsy quote was stamped onto scraps of the Infusions stained book page, cutting into word tiles, adhering "Learn" above the leaf, with the other words placed towards the right side of the leaf.  The Stabilio pencil creates shadow and definition around the words.

The panel was then adhered to a That's Crafty! Surfaces MDF Panel in size 6" x 6".

Thank You for your visit today.
