I Wish My Eyes...... by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
I'm back with you this Tuesday and for this weeks make I have a tag to share with you using one of That's Crafty! MDF tags.

Here's What I Did:

My substrate this week is a That's Crafty! MDF tag and this one is approx 4.2" x 8.4". To start this tag off I first covered it with a gelli print, I keep all the prints that I make that don't work out as well but are fine to use as a starting background to build upon on. I glued it onto the tag using That's Crafty! Multi Purpose Glue and then trimmed the card around the tag.

I then began building up my layers onto this. First layer was to add some stencilling with Dina Wakley white paint through Melina's Mandala 2 stencil mask. I then stencilled through the Mandala mask again in the bolder colour of That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paint in Teal. Once that paint was dry I outlined the stencilled paint with a fineliner pen to make it stand out. I then added some stamping detail using a mixture of paint and black ink pad building the background layers. I have doodled around some of these details with both a black fineliner and white Posca pen. To add some black and white contrast I stamped the round maze stamp from one of the ATC Coin stamp sets onto stamping card and using a circle punch punched out the circles and added them to the tag. Onto some smooth watercolour card I stamped the fabulous eye stamp, designed by Melina Dahl for That's Crafty!, again designed as an ATC coin stamp. I cut this out and coloured with Zig brush clean pens before adding to one of the black and white circles.

The final addition was to add the quote which was from the Art by Marlene Sticker book - quotes & Letters.

Here's What I Used:
Gelli Print Background from my Stash
That's Crafty! Mask 6" x 6" - Mandala 2
That's Crafty! 4" x 6" Stencil - Dream Word (for the circles)
That's Crafty! Multi Surface Paints - Teal & Bright Magenta
Stamp Sets Used:
Art by Marlene Sticker Book - Quotes & Letters  (currently out of stock)

Have a great week and I'll see you all next Tuesday
Love

  1. An amazing tag to go with an amazing idea... the vivid oranges and yellows work beautifully against that soft turquoise, and the bold graphics are really dynamic. I used to "click" my eyes to capture a memory or landscape. I'm sure they're filed somewhere in my brain - but no idea how to retrieve them!

  3. Wow! A really striking tag Amanda. The eye element really pops against the background and love the black and white too.
