One of my many loves in crafting is construction. Taking something flat and making it into something 3D.
Today I made a tiny journal out of ATC blanks. At just 2.5x3.5” this little book has more than enough room to record a whole outing’s worth of memories.
I started by making some paper for the cover. I sprayed Saffron, Redwood, and Aqua Flat Matte Sprays through the ‘mix up’ mask then sprinkled it with water. Not wanting to waste any, I placed another sheet of card on top to get a mop-up negative print.
Next I used Mowed Lawn Distress ink randomly through the Dinky Pebbles stencil and then stamped the Carabelle studio small leaf frond in Pine Needles Distress ink.
After stamping the wordy leaf frond in black Versafine, I overpainted the leaves with Redwood Flat Matte spray.
I covered 2 greyboard ATC blanks with the paper, wrapping it around to the other side and mitreing the corners to neaten.
The concertina was made by cutting 3 strips of 12x12” card at 3 3\8”. The folds were marked and scored at 2 3\8”, and after joining the 3 strips together I stuck the ATC covers to the concertina.
I matted and layered 2 pieces of the mop-up print onto black card and stuck them onto the inside covers.
My little book needed a way of staying closed, so I made a fastener out of a length of cotton tape sandwiched between 2 strips of card, then added the stamped embellishment. I stuck the fastener strip to the back of the book. A few more stamped words added the finishing touch.
Thank you for popping by, see you again soon.
