No Trains, But Boats and Planes by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

I have another artist trading block to share this week with a sort of travel theme that was inspired by a certain song as you'll probably guess from my rather tongue in cheek post title.

What I Did:

I first assembled the block using the That's Crafty! multi purpose craft adhesive pen as this is perfect for adding glue to the sections avoiding any mess.

I then painted the all the sides using multi surface paints, teal on the top, orange on 2 opposing sides and green on the others with black on the base.

I next went to town with some of the texture stamps, using shades of red, deep green and dark blue, layering up the stamping for a grungy look and following with stencilling in places. Details under the individual photos below.

I took some of the new greyboard bits and pieces shapes and painted these up, stamping in places and grunging some up with texture paste and heat embossing.

The top uses the riveted metal texture stamp, stamped with dark blue ink. The cogs and saw blade pieces were grunged with texture sand paste and painted with multi surface paints using a dabbing motion to get a rusty effect. The plane was painted light blue then stamped with one of the texture stamps that happily resembled the marking on a WW2 plane.

This side has the numbers texture stamp roughly stamped on without using an acrylic block in deep green ink, followed up with the circular mark stamped in black. I stencileed over the top with the planes stencil using dark blue multi surface paint. The propeller is covered in texture sand paste with lines stamped on top and heat embossed with silver powder then grunged up with black paint.

My yacht side has red stamping with the lines texture stamp followed by dark blue stamping with the sequin waste image. I painted up the yacht greyboard piece with multi surface paints then stamped on the number from a texture stamp set. The saw blades, cogs etc were treated with sand texture paste then roughly painted with black, grey and white multi surface paints.

This side has deep green numbers background stamping with the circular mark stamped in black and propellers stencilled on top with dark blue paint. The plane is painted and stamped as for the top and the propeller was covered in sand texture paste and rusted up with chestnut brown, orange and black paints.

My final side was stamped in the same way as the yacht side and the car and scooter were painted with mutli surface paints then detail was added with Posca pens.

I finished off with travel and journey themed text from the very useful words in artist trading coin stamp set 11 and my cube was complete.
