It's The Little Things by Amanda Southern

Hi Everyone
Well I can honestly say I have no idea where the last week has gone. It's one of my busiest times at work at the moment and any crafty time, this last week, has been non existent. Therefore for this weeks post I have had to rifle around in my UFO (unfinished objects) drawer to put together this weeks project for you.

Here's What I Did: (be it some was created a while back)

In my box I found the painty brayered background which was made using Dylusions paints. To get the blended look I brayer down each colour individually, working quickly so that I can blend one colour into the other rather that it drying first as that way the paint lays on top of each other rather than a the blended effect I think I have achieved. Dylusions paint works well for this as I have found it to be more slow drying than some of the other paints I like to use. I then stencilled through a complete stencil design using black texture paste. I then matted the background piece onto black cardstock.

I then took one of That's Crafty! greyboard large funky flowers and painted it, again using Dylusions paints. Once dry I covered it with matte medium as I wanted a matte finish to it to match the matte finish of the stencilling. I felt it needed a little something more so over stamped the flower with a script stamp from one of the That's Crafty! texture stamp sets using a Stazon ink pad.

I then fixed the flower to the stencilled background. A Tim Holtz chit chat sticker finishes it off once I had mounted it onto an 8" x 8" card blank.

What would we do without our UFO stash? It's times like this that that makes you appreciate the fact that all us crafters don't throw anything away.

Here's What I Used:
Heavy White Smooth Card - stock plenty to choose from HERE
Dylusions Paints - Bubblegum Pink, Mushy Peas, Vanilla Custard, Peony Blush & Black Marble
The Crafters Workshop 6" x 6" Stencil - Floral Radar
That's Crafty! Surfaces Greyboard Bits & Pieces - Large Funky Flowers 1
8" x 8" Card Blank

Have a fabulous week and I will see you all next Tuesday
Love
Amanda X

  1. I love the gorgeous background colours and the black looks so striking against it. That's a great sentiment too!

Well, if the base of this is what you have in your UFO drawer, I wouldn't mind having a rifle through it myself Amanda! I am trying hard to clear out my craft room at the moment but not having much luck throwing things out! Anne xx
