Bloom ... by Amanda Pink

Hello Everyone

Welcome to my Thursday weekly creativity.
This week I have a couple of cards to share with you featuring some of the lovely new stamps by That's Crafty! designed by the very talented artist Melina Dahl.
As most of you will have gathered by now I'm not really a 'Flower Girl' so to speak but Melina's well designed stamps are very versatile and lend themselves to a range of creative styles. On this occasion I have opted for a somewhat 'graphic' style using black and white with subtle use of colour .....

I began by cutting a couple of panels of heavy black Cardstock. It needs to be heavy (300gsm+) to be able to take the wet mediums.
I then positioned a die centrally on one of the black card panels and used masking tape to keep the die in place. Taking a piece of cut n dry foam I sponged a couple of coats of white gesso and a coat of PaperArtsy Snowflake fresco finish paint into the 'open' space the die created.

Once dry I carefully removed the masking tape and die to leave an area of white to work on. I repeated the process on the second panel of black cardstock.
I inked and stamped two of Melina's Flower designs onto each of the whitened out areas, dried them with a heat gun and then watercolored both of the images using Distress inks.

I also painted a light wash of blue around the flowers.

Once the painted ink was dry I added a bit of doodling using a white fineliner pen.
I then mounted the panels onto two ivory hand made card blanks and to finish I added a stamped word taken from one of Lynne Moncrieff affirmations.
