The Midnight Garden by Lynne Moncrieff

Hello

With this dimensional panel, my hope is to evoke the sense of taking a walk in the midnight garden, with the colours of the night, of blossoms and tendrils and the crunch of gravel underfoot in the form of 13Arts Gravel.

Instructions

When I first received the Botanical collage paper, whenever that was when That's Crafty! first got it in stock, I set about preparing a MDF 6"x6" panel and then that panel lay around, I could not move forwards with it no matter the times I brought it out to try to find inspiration to final complete it.
Then suddenly, a ATCoin which I had prepared for an idea on another panel, found it suddenly clicking into place and at last, this floating panel was completed!

Rewinding to when I prepared it I know I applied the Fresco chalk acrylics, with a palette knife to achieve scratchy patches. To this I adhered torn pieces of the Botanical collage paper.  With fingers and baby wipe, I subsequently blended areas of That's Crafty! Ivory paint with the Black paint more focused around the edges.

In some areas, I diluted the White paint, almost dripping it onto small areas.

For the ATCoin, I adhered a piece of handmade paper. I then dripped the Flat Matte Sprays onto the surface, allowing the paper to soak up the beautiful colour, ensuring to leave some areas of the handmade paper free from colour.

The ink pad was swiped around the edges.

Onto a piece of handmade paper, I partially inked up a sentiment from a Lynne's Wildflowers set, adhering to the ATCoin, allowing the two ends to slightly fold upwards. Trapped between this panel and the ATCoin, black sewing thread.

The sewing thread was to bring the feeling of darkness, of tangled over-hanging tendrils.
A sprig of dried hydrangea blossoms was adhered, with more of the thread wrapped around the stem, with the addition of a light dusting of the 13Arts Coloured Gravel.

On other areas of the panel, clusters of the Gravel bring texture.

Until next week,
Wishes
Lynne

  2. A beautiful piece Lynn. I am always amazed at how a scrap of ribbon, a shabby piece of paper can direct where one goes with a project. Have an amazing week. Ours will be brighter white. 5 inches of fluffy snow this weekend and 4 to 8 on it's way. I'll keep the home fires burning !
