Experiments With Embellishments by Fliss Goodwin

Hello!

As promised, I have my second lot of artist trading coins to share this week and all of these feature some of the new and gorgeous Wycinanka chipboard embellishments. They take all sorts of colour really well and even stand up to some heat embossing as you'll see if you read on.

Step by Step:

The backgrounds on my coins were all made in a similar way so I'll share the basic technique and then you'll find all the individual details under each photo below.

I used a variety of the new round Dinky stencils (the perfect size for artist trading coins and more!) with texture paste to add a pattern to each of my greyboard coins.

I then painted each one with Multi Surface Paint in various shades and once the paint was dry, misted on a mix of Flat Matte Sprays and Lustre Sprays.

I then took my chosen chipboard embellishments and coloured them up with Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens, adding touches of detail with coloured pencils. As you can see, I tried to make some of the embellishments look as true to life as I could - the butterflies, bird and some of the flowers in particular.

The only exception was the red flower which I felt needed something more so I heat embossed it with a couple of layers of sparkly embossing powder. This gave some lovely added bling to contrast with my blue lilac background.

I glued everything on and then added some text created with various of Lynne's Affirmation stamps. I rubbed bronze multi surface paints round the outer edge of each coin.

Here I used the new puzzle round stencil with Light Blue and Lavender Multi Surface Paints topped with Aqua and Lilac Lustre Sprays. The text is from Lynne's Affirmations stamp Set 6.

This one features the new shattered round stencil with Light Pink Multi Surface Paint topped with Walnut Flat Matte Spray. The text here is from Lynne's Affirmations Set 1.

Here I have used the new Rising Sun round stecil and painted this to make a scene with Teal, Yellow, Lime and Green Multi Surface Paints topped with Frost Lustre Spray. The text is from Lynne's Affirmations Set 1.

For this one I used the new Geo round stencil and Apricot Multi Surface Paint topped with Walnut Flat Matte Spray for a more vintage look. The text is from Lynne's Affirmations Set 9.

My final coin features the new Petals round stencil with Lime Multi Surface Paint and Lime Lustre Spray. I couldn't quite fit text on here so left the gorgeous chipboard embellishment to speak for itself. Can you tell I'm longing for Spring.
